Two Roads I & II
Two Roads I & II - as featured on Fox 2 interview here
Mixed Media Collage & Acrylic on Canvas
These silhouettes of barren trees against a soft sky were inspired by the Robert Frost poem, "The Road Not Taken". The words of the poem were hand written by the artist and embedded into the surface. She began with a background surface of softly blended acrylics to create the underpainting of these collage pieces. Using a selection of hand painted found collage papers, tissues, discarded sewing patterns, origami and craft papers, Shadia painstakingly collaged each a portion of the trees as well as a portion of the background. The result is a simply composed yet dynamic painting in soft hues with subtle texture and pattern.
The paintings, which each measure 16"x40" are painted on 1 1/2" gallery canvas. The surface is coated with a gloss UV top coat to preserve the colors and protect against fading. The edges of this panel are painted black and ready for display, and reveal the artists technique with some wrapped papers.
