Mixed Media Collage & Acrylic on Canvas
This beautiful piece features a Dahlia I photographed from my garden. Initially I was inspired by the vibrant fuchsia hue of the flower, but when it came time to paint it, a softer palette spoke to me. I created an underpainting in acrylics, then began layer hand-stamped, stenciled and painted papers. I add pearlescent metallic and soft silver shimmer to the background. I finished the piece with a UV protective top coat in a glossy finish.
This painting, which measures 36"x36", is painted on a 1.5" gallery wrapped wrap canvas. The edges of this panel are painted with some papers overlapping to reveal the process. It can be hung as is or framed.
