About Me
Since the day in kindergarten when I first learned the word "artist", I knew that I was meant to be one! I have been painting since grade school, bringing home finger paintings to re-wet them to continue painting.
Eventually, my skills and materials expanded (thankfully!), and I earned my Bachelor of Fine Art with Honors at Eastern Michigan University. Shortly after, I began a decorative painting and mural company, Ambiance Design Studio, and I have been an active artist and art instructor since 2004.
Currently, I focus on my studio art, which features vibrant colors and unique collage techniques featuring nature - from landscapes and florals to seascapes. I participate regularly in art shows and live painting events, locally. I create commissioned works for clients both commercial and residential,
I also enjoy creating custom murals and elaborate decorative wall finishes for my clients throughout Southeastern Michigan. Inspiration

Techniques
Shadia works primarily in acrylics and collage, but her passion for and creativity with color is the true theme that runs through all of her work. With her latest collage work, Shadia uses a selection of found papers, tissue papers, discarded sewing patterns, origami and craft papers. These papers are then painstakingly hand-painted, stained, stamped and stenciled. Shadia then tears each paper by hand to ‘paint’ over her canvas, resulting in dynamic and colorful pieces with unique pattern and texture.
career highlights
Shadia has participated in solo exhibitions and group shows for nearly 20 years throughout Michigan. Some of her most notable solo exhibits were hosted by Pierre Paul Gallery, The Scarab Club and Level One Gallery. She has been a featured artist at numerous live events, and her work was highlighted on Fox 2 Detroit. She's been a participant at Art Prize in Grand Rapids and has volunteered to create community murals as well.
